The small but mighty word 'yet'
Adding 'yet' turns limitations into opportunities, fostering a growth mindset.
I have a habit. I keep adding 'yet' to other people's statements. Those of you who know me long enough can attest to that 😀
Why? It immediately transforms finality into opportunity.
Some examples:
"I am not a good public speaker."
"I am not a good public speaker yet."
"My team is not aligned."
"My team is not aligned yet."
"I cannot master this skill."
"I have not mastered this skill yet."
"I am not a leader."
"I am not a leader yet."
"We are not successful."
"We are not successful yet."
The power of this little word lies in its ability to shift our mindset from fixed to growth. It acknowledges our current reality while keeping the door open for progress and change.
It's 3 letters that for me capture the very idea of coaching!
