Coaching Skills

Practical coaching skills for the conversations you already have.

Three tracks share one method: people leaders, HR business partners, and Japanese-speaking leaders each practise the same core coaching skills against the conversations specific to their role. Every track runs through the same four learning depths, from a two-hour taster to a twelve-week IntelliCoach Pro program.

Coaching Skills · People Leaders

From expert leader to confident coaching leader.

The pressure
A high performer keeps bringing you the decision instead of making it, and a one-on-one turns into you giving advice for most of the conversation.
The unhelpful pattern
Stepping in to decide, or giving the answer to keep things moving, feels efficient in the moment, but the same problem is back the following week.
What becomes possible
Ask cleaner questions instead of jumping to advice, listen for the real concern beneath a status update, and shift ownership back so accountability sticks.
Where this shows up in the work
One-on-ones, feedback conversations, and the moments a team member wants you to decide for them.

Coaching Skills · HR Business Partners

Elevate your strategic HR impact through coaching.

The pressure
A line leader asks you to just fix a team conflict for them, or a stakeholder meeting turns into you explaining HR policy for most of the hour.
The unhelpful pattern
Stepping in to mediate, or repeating the policy, keeps the meeting moving, but the leader never builds the muscle to handle it themselves.
What becomes possible
Set a clear agreement at the start of the conversation, listen for the real issue beneath the request, and shift ownership back to the leader who owns the decision.
Where this shows up in the work
Stakeholder meetings, partnering conversations, and the moments a leader brings you their people problem to solve.

Coaching Skills · Japanese-speaking Leaders

From expert leader to confident coaching leader.

The pressure
A team member keeps deferring big decisions to you, and a one-on-one turns into a status update with little space for their own thinking.
The unhelpful pattern
Filling the space with advice keeps the meeting on track in the moment, but the same issue returns the next week.
What becomes possible
Ask cleaner questions, listen for the real concern beneath a status update, and shift ownership back so accountability sticks.
Where this shows up in the work
One-on-ones and performance conversations, delivered in Japanese.

The same four learning depths, every track

A recommended progression, not a required one

Taster, Workshop, Core, and Pro are a recommended progression: start with a taster to feel the approach, step up to Core when you want sustained practice, and commit to Pro when you are ready to go deeper. It is not a locked sequence. You can enter at the depth that fits your experience and context, and a later depth never requires completing an earlier one first.

Proof, from the people who noticed

Maik was our Coach & facilitator for "Leader as Coach" program. He has fabulous observations - precise and insightful; and works in a collaborative and flexible way. I highly recommend Maik for high individual impact as well as a leader.

Amandeep Singh Munial, Business Head and Sr Principal Consultant, BMGIndia.com

People Leaders

I have participated in the Leader as Coach programme, facilitated by Maik, both as trainee and supporting the training. I've been immensely enriched both times. Empowering leaders to be better coaches has had good effects across eBay.

Michael Haupt

Head of DE Regional Engineering, eBay

HR Business Partners

The training was perfectly tailored to the target group of managers and conveyed the main features of coaching. The exercises were practice-oriented and alternated appropriately with the theoretical part. The trainer was very professional.

Patricia Boujemaa

HR People Specialist, Itelligence Global Managed Services GmbH

Japanese-speaking Leaders

Maik delivers insightful and effective workshops! He helps students (and I) to grow and become more self-aware - understand our strengths and leverage them to the fullest potentials in different scenarios. With Maik, you are in good hands!
