Keep up the Frequency!
This packed newsletter is about 'Frequency of Communication'. We update you on the coming Open House session. Hey ๐ I hope you had a fantastic week.
I want to introduce a favorite visual and concept of mine: The Allen Curve. Its original application related specifically to engineers, but it has since found more general representation in management literature.
The curve describes how communication frequency typically drops rapidly once the physical distance between you and another person increases.
You have probably noticed that yourself in the past (esp before COVID):
The colleague from the next desk moves away and interaction drops.
Your best friend moves to a different city and connection wanes.
Your global team bonds well during real workshops, but it fades after.
During the prolonged COVID time, implications are even more real:
We cannot count on frequent communication to 'happen' to us, like before, when we would inevitably bump into people at the office.
Important relationships are at danger to wither like plants that you don't water.
It takes intentional effort to nurture relationships, when remote.
We are not helpless against the Allen Curve. The curve is what happens if we don't take action and let it slide.
As a result, I offer two focused self-coaching questions for you.
Give yourself a moment, and think about:
Who are the 5-7 people who you should keep a very frequent communication channel open with?
What have you done in the past week to support that open channel?
If you are like me, you will notice pretty quickly that we seem to take certain important (and now more distant) relationships for granted.
Working against the Allen Curve is like swimming up-stream.
If you stop, you fall back!
The IntelliCoach Open House on 3rd September! ๐
I have just announced that the 3rd Cohort of the IntelliCoach Leader Academy Program (ILAP) will start in November 2021!! And you are the first to know about the published lesson schedule (here).
I have shared here last week that ILAP has just been accredited by the International Coaching Federation. That was a huge milestone.
๐ To celebrate this..
I run a special, free 'Open House' webinar/event on coming Friday 3rd Sep. It's going to be as fun and interactive as you expect from me!
You learn about the program content and experience parts of it.
Anyone who participates LIVE in the Open House will get a USD $100 voucher that can be used with ANY future ILAP cohort. You can even pass it on to your friend/colleague!
Until 15 Sep, people who sign up for the Nov cohort get 30% off the regular tuition fee, as part of a special Celebration Super Early Bird deal (Details here). This pricing won't ever come back in the future. Don't miss it!
Do you have a friend or colleague who also dreamed of completing their own Leader Toolkit by taking their coaching skills to professional level? Invite them to join the Open House and say hello!

Our Podcast Series on the 'Coaching Agreement' ๐๏ธ
There's another great way to experience and 'taste' what it's like to become a Leader Coach: Our podcast 'The Coaching Leader'
The content of the podcast will tie in more closely to the curriculum of the Leader Academy Program over the coming months.
Right now, there's an ongoing series of 3 episodes about the 'coaching agreement'.
Agreeing well is one of the toughest things to master when learning to coach well. It's a core element that I reinforce throughout the Academy.
EP64: The hardest skill to master when you learn coaching (Link).
EP65: Making a coaching agreement is strange and difficult. Hereโs Why! (Link)
EP66: The 4 steps to a solid coaching agreement (will air on 3rd September!)
A final note before we go ๐ถ๐ฝ
Keeping up needed communication frequency requires active effort.
