Boomerasking 🪃
Here's a small self-test I find uncomfortably sharp. You ask someone a question. They answer. And they don't ask it back. Notice what happens inside you. Nothing? Good.
That flicker test stuck with me. 💡 I have definitely done it.
There's a second tell, too: mentally rehearsing your own answer while the other person is still speaking. You're not listening at that point. You're just waiting.
So here's a one-week experiment: every time you catch yourself wanting to share something, skip the disguised question. Be direct instead. "I'd love to tell you about something." It feels almost too blunt. It isn't. People relax when they know what a conversation is actually about.
Curiosity creates space for others. Boomerasking fills the space with you.
Have you noticed such a flicker in you?
